Lesson To Learn

In my teaching class, have to come up with a 20 minute lesson to teach on. For the life of me, I can't think of anything to come up with.

The first lesson I had to do was a 7 minute lecture. I chose "How to Write a Novel," and I covered the basics of brainstorming, outlining, and revising. Writing is my love, so I'd love to do another lecture on that, but I don't know what to do it on. If you guys have the team, please leave me some ideas in the comments. I'd really appreciate it. My lecture is on the 28th.

Thanks for any help you guys have.

How about "How to Revise a Short Story."?

Two minutes for the attention step and introduction (tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em); five minutes each for three main points, and three minutes for review (tell 'em what you told 'em)and the conclusion.

Perhaps even delve into something that is interesting to you in the field of writing. You could easily do a 20 minute lecture on Science Fiction or Fantasy, or Thrillers if you like. That could work, right?

Goal setting?
Time management?
Related to writing of course :)

How about the 'nitty-gritty'?

Characters: names, personality sheets, interview techniques, problem solving, conflicts and how to create/solve them.

Plot: development, adjustments, motives, cause and effect, how to begin and how to end, keeping the middle interesting.

Dialogue: writing with an accent - or not, imparting information, descriptions of voice.

Grammar: when to use it and when to mess with it.

Where to find resources: Grammar, plotting, characters, plot, dialogue, effective writing.

And.... how to have fun while remembering all the above!
